Reba McEntire's Fiancé Rex Linn's Surprise Cameo on The Voice | Behind the Scenes (2025)

Did you miss it? Reba McEntire's main man, Rex Linn, made a super quick, almost invisible appearance on The Voice! But here's the thing: it wasn't just a casual drop-by. Let's dive into why this cameo matters, how their love story unfolded, and what it all means for Reba's future, both on and off screen.

With Reba McEntire's new sitcom, Happy's Place, filming nearby The Voice studios, it's no real shock that her fiancé and co-star, Rex Linn, would tag along with Coach McEntire. Eagle-eyed viewers watching the first episode of The Voice Season 28's Battle Rounds might have caught a glimpse: Linn strolled behind McEntire while she was chatting to the camera between the duets. It was a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment, but it speaks volumes about their close relationship and how supportive they are of each other's careers.

Want to catch The Voice? Tune in Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC, or stream it the next day on Peacock. That way, you can keep an eye out for Rex, and maybe even spot him again!

"Having a blast today, first day of the Battles," Reba shared after Artists Revel Day and Dustin Dale Gaspard performed Hozier's "Too Sweet." And there he was! Behind her, Linn casually walked by with a show lanyard around his neck, looking completely comfortable and at home. Clearly, he's no stranger to the set!

But how did this power couple actually get together? It's a story of timing, connection, and a little bit of pandemic-induced romance.

Reba McEntire and Rex Linn initially met way back in 1991 on the set of a Western drama, but sparks didn't fly at that time. Fast forward almost three decades, and they reconnected on the set of Young Sheldon in January 2020. And this is the part most people miss... it wasn't just a random meeting. Something had shifted.

"I don't know what it was; timing is everything. I've been married twice, and for some reason Rex Linn— it was just like a magnet. I had to get in there to see him at the restaurant," McEntire told E! News. But here's where it gets controversial... Reba had sworn off marriage after her second divorce. So what changed?

The pandemic, surprisingly, played a crucial role. "Because of the pandemic, we didn't get to see each other from January to June 16 [2020]," McEntire explained. "But we created an intimacy by texting and talking on the telephone that we wouldn't have gotten if we'd been together all that time. So it was special, and it was a great way of finding out about each other without ever touching. We've been pretty much inseparable ever since June 16, 2020. It was a wonderful way to get to know each other better." Talk about making the best of a challenging situation!

And about marriage? McEntire's perspective is... well, let's just say it's unique. "I've been married twice. After the second one dissolved, I don't have much faith in being bound by a piece of paper or a ring. I'm truly committed to Rex, so if that's something he feels totally strong about, that's fine with me. He's never been married before. So if he wants to experience that, I'm OK with that." It seems like she is willing to consider marriage for Rex's sake, even though she herself doesn't see it as necessary for them. This is definitely a point that could spark differing opinions! What do you think? Is marriage just a piece of paper, or is it a meaningful commitment?

Catch Reba on The Voice Monday and Tuesday nights on NBC, and don't miss her with Rex Linn on Happy's Place when Season 2 premieres on Friday, November 7. It's a chance to see their chemistry both on and off screen.

So, what are your thoughts on Reba and Rex's whirlwind romance? Do you believe in second chances at love? And what about Reba's perspective on marriage – do you agree with her, or do you think marriage is still an important institution? Let us know in the comments below!
